Governor Wes Moore has appointed Howard “Kevin” Anderson to fill the House of Delegates seat for Maryland District 38A, following the passing of Delegate Charles J. Otto. Anderson, a lifelong Somerset County resident and third-generation farmer, brings deep agricultural experience and strong community ties to the General Assembly. “Kevin Anderson is a son of the Eastern Shore, with deep roots in Somerset County and a lifelong commitment to growing Maryland’s agricultural sector,” said Gov. Moore. “He understands the needs of his community firsthand, and I am confident that he will serve his constituents with dedication and distinction. I look forward to working in partnership with Kevin to build a Maryland that leaves no one behind.”

Anderson owns and operates Wimberly Farms alongside his father, wife, and two daughters, producing corn, soybeans, wheat, and barley, and managing a seed conditioning facility that has been part of his family’s operations for decades. His leadership in Maryland’s agricultural sector has earned him national recognition, including the American Farm Bureau Federation’s National Young Farmer Achievement Award and the National Outstanding Young Farmer award. He is also an active voice in statewide agricultural organizations, serving on the Maryland Grain Producers board of directors and as vice president of the Maryland Crop Association.
